UPL: Ssemwogerere Get A Relief As Express Register First League Win

Mbarara City 2-3 Express FC

After a demoralizing 2-0 loss to Onduparaka FC in her previous league tie, Express FC have labored past resilient Mbarara City to register her season first win.

In a five goals thriller held at Luzira Ground today, Express came from a goal down to beat Mbarara 3-2 in an interesting style.

Hamdan Nsubuga found the back of the net in the 44th minute to bring back Express to level terms after Mbarara City’s lead in the 42nd minute through her gigantic defender Hillary Mukundane.

Forward Frank Kalanda later in the 65th minute sent the visitors (Express) into the lead before Masaza Cup product Jude Ssemugabi levelled matters for Mbarara. Daniel Shabena killed off the game to earn the “Mayuuni boy” three points with a late strike.

Ssemwogere who has had a bitter moment at the beginning of the season with only a draw in the first three fixtures will now have breath of life with today’s ahead of his next tie at home against Sc Villa at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

The Red Eagles lost 2-0 to Onduparaka FC in her last game. Goals by Adinho Gibson and Caesar Okhuti scored for Onduparaka.

In the first two league ties, Express lost1-0 to Bul FC and drew 1-1 against Bright Stars.

Mbarara City started with a convincing 3-0 win against Proline before a 3-1 loss to Sc Villa. In the third fixture, Mbarara played for a goalless draw against Police FC. In the next tie, the cattle keepers will visit Vipers Sc at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende this Saturday.
