Uganda 1-1 Zambia
Uganda and Zambia shared spoils in the 2019 Inaugural COSAFA U17 Women championship opener following a one all draw at full time.
In an enticing game played at St Francois Xavier stadium at Port Louis on Friday afternoon saw both sides netting once.
After a goal less first stanza, Juliet Nalukenge, a Uganda skipper put her side in the lead with a well converted spot kick in the 61st minute of the game following a foul committed on Kevin Nakacwa in the area.
Seven minutes to final whistle, 63rd minute Zambia’s substitute, Masumo Sherry levelled the game with a hard shot strike that Nyayenga Daphin, Uganda’s custodian couldn’t save to give a final score of one all draw of the first tournament game.
Uganda had created more goal scoring chances especially from the flanks but we’re not clinical enough before the goal mouth that Denied them a deserved win on the day.
Mukono High School and Uganda’s forward, Fauzia Najjemba named the best player of the match.
In the same group A, the hosts Mauritius at 15:30hrs local time will be hosting Comoros.
Uganda will bounce back in action on Sunday as they take on the hosts in their second group game.
