Ivan Bogere in celebration
CAF Confederation Cup 2nd preliminary round:
Proline FC 2-1 As Kigali (3-2 Agg)
The Masaza boy, Ivan Bogere proved to be Proline’s lethal weapon when it comes to continental championship.
Like he did it against Masters Security in the first leg of first preliminary round of CAF Confederation Cup, again the brace from Bogere on the day at Lugogo pushed Matia Lule’s coached side to the last huddle of the qualifier.
Proline edged the Rwandan side, As Kigali 2-1 in second leg game honoured at StarTimes stadium Lugogo on a rainy Saturday.
Bogere through a well laid pass from Diego Hamis Kizza in the area, headed hosts into the lead only 12 minutes past the game to stage a temporary aggregate score at 2-1.
Ivan Bogere again bounced back on the referee’s score sheet after four minutes when again a pass from Kiwanuka Hakim found him in the right place at a right time to tap in his second on the day to give Proline a comfortable drive until the end of first stanza.
The last stanza was affected by heavy downpour and fans did not enjoy the interplay of Proline since their tik-tak style of play was heavily interrupted by heavy waters on the field of play.
However, it was like a blessing in disguise for the visitors because it’s when they gotten more chances to squeeze hosts for a consolation which finally came in the 84th minute, through Benedata Janvier near post strike though it wasnt enough for them to beat determined Proline.
“We started low, especially in the first 15 minutes we were disorganized, that’s why I made the change in 20 minutes after conceding two goals, we made twpt serious mistakes that made us to concede but that’s football, now we going back to prepare for our domestic league” As Kigali tactician Eric Nshimiyimana told media after the loss.
Ivan Bogere the hero of the day, thanked Almighty God for another blessings he granted to him to score important goals for his team.
“First of all I thank God because I am lucky, coaches give me chance despite of my size and height.
Am happy that even today coach gave me chance and finally delivered and helped my team to go to another level” Happy Ivan Bogere spoke to media in the postmatch press conference at Lugogo.
So far the three games Proline played they have scored six goals and five belongs to Ivan Bogere.
The side has qualified to the last huddle that will determine whether they will make it to ground stages of CAF Confederation Cup or not, they are to face the losers from the CAF champions league qualifiers.
