COSAFA U17 Girls Final:

South Africa 1-2 Uganda

The pearl of Africa, Uganda are the champions of inaugural 2019 COSAFA U17 Girls Championship that has been underway in Mauritius since 20th September 2019.

The silent Assassin as nicknamed by South African Juliet Nalukenge and lethal weapon, Fauzia Najjemba took the day when Uganda beating South Africa by 2-1 in the final played at Francois Xavier stadium Mauritius on Sunday afternoon.

The best teams in the tournament played to a goalless draw at first stanza with South African goalie Mohale Karabo, making three crucial saves denying Fauzia Najjemba and Juliet Nalukenge to break the deadlock.

Ayub Khalifa coached side kept the momentum of last minutes of first half, built on that came second half and with beautiful pass from Juliet Nalukenge gave Fauzia Najjemba a golden opportunity to put Uganda upfront 57 minutes past the game.

South Africa through substitute Tiffany Kortijie leveled the game with a super header at 74th minute mark but as a Captain, two minutes to final whistle, Juliet Nalukenge separated the tie with a near post tap in, thanks to Fauzia Najjemba well laid low cross.

The two made ugand to lift the trophy of inaugural tournament, Nalukenge, the golden boot taker scored 18 goals in the whole tournament while Fauzia bagged 13 goals.

Uganda as a team scored 46 goals and conceded only two in the opening match and closing game.

Nyayenga Daphine moved away with the golden gloves.
