UFL: Perfect Start For Defending Champions

Uganda Christian University (UCU) beat Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) on a 2-0 margin in the opening game of season 9, Pepsi University Football League held at UCU play grounds.

Geoffrey Gagganga’s brace for the reigning champions helped the defending champions to have a perfect start as they continue with a journey of retaining the title.

The hosts nearly reaped negative yields due to a sluggish start but Ramathan Musema of IUIU failed to find the back of the net as his effort parried away.

In the 20th minute of the game play, Gagganga found the back of the net as a result to great dominance with their usual tik-tak style of play.

Whata goal that was well slotted to the bottom corner of the net to send hosts’ fans into early celebrations.

The reigning champions kept pressing in search for the second But the deadly effort hardly resulted as IUIU custodian Rashid Tezikoma kept guard of his goal.

The hosts came back even stronger in the second Stanza. As a motion to reclaim the home glory. But Tezikoma pulled a top class save to deny Anthony Male’s powerful effort.

Closely just after the hour mark, Gagganga completed his double as a result of continuous attacks

IUIU were frustrated visitors after a 2-0 result in favour of their hosts and reigning champions, UCU.
