Boxing: Bombers Off To Dakar, Minister Asked Them To Rise And Shine

The Uganda National boxing team, the Bombers were officially flagged off to Dakar Senegal for Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifier games slated to commence on 20th February 2020.

For the first time in history Uganda is to be represented by a full team of fighters (13), five girls and eight boys sitting in all boxing weights from Light fly to super heavy weight.

While flagging off the Bombers on Friday 14th February at Cupper Chimney Restaurant Lugogo, State Minister for Sports Hon Hamson Obua encouraged the fighters to rise and shine as they target the most prestigious medal in the Championship.

You used to sneak out and in the country but today you going to be officially flagged off.

You are going with the first priority as a gold medal, not Silver or bronze.

My appeal to you, go represent us, go represent you self and family.” State minister.

The team which is fully facilitated by the government, will set off on Monday 17th and the games slated between 20th and 29th February.

The best performers, (Gold medalists) will qualify automatic to Olympics.
